Bill N. Eaves
Bill N. Eaves was born in 1928 and grew up on a farm north of Petersburg. His father died when he was nine. After high school, Eaves attended Lippert’s Business College in Plainview. He worked at the Plainview Daily Herald, was a teller at Hale County State Bank for four years, and then was business manager at the Medical Center Hospital on St. Louis Street in southeast Plainview for four years. In 1958, he partnered with Joe H. Morgan to establish an independent insurance business they named the Morgan-Eaves Agency. Bill was twice elected to the Plainview City Council, served as chairman of the City Zoning Commission, and was twice president of the Plainview Independent Insurance Agents. He is a past president of the American Business Club, which sponsored the youth summer baseball program and has been involved in various community activities and boards, including the Plainview Cemetery Association. He taught a youth Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, where he has been a member for more than 50 years. He was married for 53 years to Geneva Doris Rippstein, who died in January 2002. He married Joanne Allen in October 2003. He has a son, three stepchildren, three grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. |
