Tom and Linda Hall
Tom Hall, “The Voice of the Bulldogs,” is a tireless champion of young people and sports. He served as chairman of the Chamber of Commerce’s Sports Committee for many years and as tournament director of the Queens Classic basketball tournament for most of its 29 years of existence. He has coached in the summer baseball program and officiated youth basketball and baseball games, and he still coaches a young women’s summer basketball team. Tom has been in radio broadcasting for much of his life. Today, he broadcasts Plainview High School football, basketball, baseball, and volleyball contests as well as PHS band contests. Previously, he was the voice of Wayland basketball for 17 years while he was employed at the university, holding several posts including director of contracted services. He has promoted Plainview as co-host of the KKYN “Wake Up Kickin’” morning show and has been co-host of the Plainview Cooking School, an annual event at the Ollie Liner Center, for many years. A native of Plainview born in 1948, Tom participated in band and baseball and graduated from PHS in 1967. He graduated from West Texas State University (now West Texas A&M) in 1971. He was in radio broadcasting for several years, then worked for the High Plains Sheltered Workshop, and later for the Plainview Chamber of Commerce as its assistant manager. He has served on the Public Relations Committee of the First Baptist Church. Tom and his wife, the former Linda Liles of Vernon, married in 1969. A 1984 graduate of Wayland Baptist University, she teaches computer applications and coordinates the campus television station at Ash Sixth Grade School. Avid supporters of Plainview sports teams, they have a daughter and two granddaughters. |
